Sharp Reliability Bounds for the L-like Distributions, a Class in Which Ageing Is Based on Laplace Transform Inequalities

چکیده
We establish Klar’s (2002) conjecture about sharp reliability bounds for life distributions in the Lα-class in reliability theory. The key idea is to construct a set of two-point distributions whose support points satisfy a certain system of equalities and inequalities.

Stochastic bounds for a single server queue with general retrial times
We propose to use a mathematical method based on stochastic comparisons of Markov chains in order to derive performance indice bounds. The main goal of this paper is to investigate various monotonicity properties of a single server retrial queue with first-come-first-served (FCFS) orbit and general retrial times using the stochastic ordering techniques.
متن کاملDiscrete Life Distributions with Decreasing Reversed Hazard
This paper considers the class of discrete distributions for which the distribution function is a log-concave sequence. It is shown that such distributions arise from a wide variety of circumstances in Reliability, and that these have a decreasing reversed hazard rate. After examining the closures of the class under certain key operations, sharp upper and lower bounds on the reliability functio...
متن کاملLaplace Transform Estimates and Deviation Inequalities Estimées De La Transformée De Laplace Et Inégalités De Déviation
– We derive deviation inequalities from non-asymptotic bounds of the log-Laplace transform of a function of N random variables. We assume either that these random variables are independent or that they form a Markov chain. We assume also that the partial finite differences of order one and two of the function are suitably bounded, or more generally that they have some exponential moments. The e...

Kebir (1994) (see also Shaked and Shanthikumar, 1994) has characterized likelihood ratio (LR) ordering, failure rate (FR) ordering, reversed hazard rate ordering and stochastic (ST) ordering with the help of Laplace transform. Using Laplace transform, Nanda (1995) has characterized, by means of necessary and sufficient conditions, the property that two life distributions are ordered in the s-FR...
متن کاملSpeckle Reduction in Synthetic Aperture Radar Images in Wavelet Domain Using Laplace Distribution
Speckle is a granular noise-like phenomenon which appears in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images due to coherent properties of SAR systems. The presence of speckle complicates both human and automatic analysis of SAR images. As a result, speckle reduction is an important preprocessing step for many SAR remote sensing applications. Speckle reduction can be made through multi-looking during the...
